About
Mara Freilich is the Thomas J. and Alice M. Tisch Assistant Professor of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences and Applied Mathematics at Brown University. She earned her PhD from MIT-Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in 2021. Her research utilizes mathematical modeling and observations to study the role of ocean and ecological dynamics within the climate system and biosphere. Her goal is to project and mitigate the impacts of climate change through a predictive understanding of how components of the climate system interact across different spatial and temporal scales. Her mathematical modeling research focuses on fluid dynamics, stochastic modeling, and reaction-advection-diffusion equations. She employs methods including theoretical analysis, numerical modeling, interdisciplinary observations, and community-engaged research to advance her studies.
