About
Laurie A. Hall is a seasoned higher education leader with over two decades of experience spanning the nonprofit and university sectors. She is currently the Vice Dean of Executive Programs at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) and a Senior Fellow. Dr. Hall joined Penn GSE from the Division of University Life at Penn, where she served as Assistant Vice Provost for Strategic Planning and Operations, leading cross-functional teams in advancing strategic initiatives, divisional planning, and assessment efforts across 15 departments. Her work is rooted in data-driven decision-making, mission alignment, and collaboration. Her prior experience includes 17 years at Princeton University, where she held progressively senior roles, most recently in the Office of the Executive Vice President, leading campus-wide planning initiatives, resource stewardship, and risk assessment. Dr. Hall has also worked extensively in the nonprofit sector supporting community reintegration for families impacted by incarceration, housing instability, and HIV/AIDS. She directed the center for volunteerism and service-learning at Saint Elizabeth University and collaborated with faculty to develop interdisciplinary experiential learning opportunities. A graduate of Penn’s Executive Doctorate in Higher Education Management program, with a focus on institutional leadership and the leadership of change, Dr. Hall merges a practitioner–scholar lens with critical, solution-driven leadership. Her research interests include institutional leadership, decision-making, and leadership of change, with current projects exploring the roles of senior leadership teams, presidential transitions, and institutional responses to legislative and sociopolitical pressures.
