Marjorie S. White is a Clinical Professor of Law and the Director of the Startup NC Law Clinic at the University of North Carolina School of Law. She also serves as the Director of Small Business Initiatives at the law school’s Institute for Innovation. She joined the faculty in the fall of 2019, coming from Brooklyn Law School where she was an Associate Professor of Clinical Law and Director of Transactional Practice for the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy Clinic (BLIP) since 2014. Her professional background includes extensive corporate and transactional experience in private practice, with roles at law firms and in executive in-house positions. She spent much of her career in the corporate department of Davis Polk & Wardwell, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, securities work, and private equity transactions. Additionally, she was a partner at Wolf, Block, Schorr & Solis-Cohen, served as Vice President and Corporate Secretary of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where she was responsible for worldwide corporate governance, and was the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of a boutique investment advisory firm, overseeing legal and compliance matters. White holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where she was a Comment Editor of the Law Review, and an A.B. in Classics (Greek) from Harvard University, graduating cum laude. She clerked for the Honorable Robert J. Ward, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York.
