Jeffrey M. Hirsch is the Geneva Yeargan Rand Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he joined in 2011. His teaching and research focus on labor and employment law issues, with particular attention to topics such as technology in the workplace, unions, and dismissal law. He has authored numerous books, book chapters, articles, and essays on these subjects, and his work has been recognized through various awards including the University of Tennessee’s Marilyn V. Yarbrough Faculty Award for Writing Excellence, Carolina Law’s Charles E. Daye Award for Excellence in Service, the Frederick B. McCall Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Paul Steven Miller Award for contributions to labor and employment law. Hirsch has served in leadership roles such as Associate Dean for Strategy and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at UNC Law, and he is actively involved in the broader legal community as an editor of the Workplace Prof Blog, an executive committee member of the Labor Law Group, a research fellow at NYU Center for Labor & Employment Law, and a former chair of the AALS Labor Relations & Employment Law Section. His educational background includes a J.D. from NYU School of Law, a Master of Public Policy from the College of William & Mary, and a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
