Dr. Laura M. Bennett Murphy received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duke University. She completed a Pediatric Psychology internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Nationwide Children's Hospital and The Ohio State University. She is a member of the Division of Pediatric Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and holds the position of Associate Professor on the clinical track. Dr. Murphy divides her professional time working with medically ill children and adolescents as well as with adults living with inherited arrhythmias and congenital heart disease. Her clinical work involves supporting patients in addressing issues such as medical adherence, pain management, eating and feeding disorders, coping with medical trauma, and treating psychological distress including anxiety and depression. She also specializes in refugee health and mental health. Her research interests focus on improving health and well-being in chronically ill youth and on behavioral health integration within medical subspecialty clinics.
