Jonathan Peelle is an associate professor of psychology at Northeastern University, affiliated with the Department of Psychology and the Communication Sciences and Disorders. He obtained a master’s degree in cognitive psychology and a PhD in neuroscience from Brandeis University, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania and the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge, England. His research focuses on the psychological and neural basis for human communication, with particular emphasis on the interaction between sensory, cognitive, and social factors. Because spoken language plays a central role in everyday life, his work aims to understand the contributors to speech comprehension to provide insights into maintaining and improving communication success throughout life. Peelle has led a global study on why some people hear better in noisy spaces and has authored a book titled 'The Neuroscience of Language,' exploring how the brain processes language and supports communication.
