Wendy Kline, Ph.D., is the Dema G. Seelye Chair in the History of Medicine at Purdue University, where she serves as a Professor of History and the Director of the Medical Humanities Certificate Program. She is internationally recognized for her scholarship in the history of medicine, the history of women's health, and the history of childbirth. Her research focuses on the history of medicine in the U.S., reproduction, eugenics, and women's health. Kline has authored four major books on sexuality and reproduction, including 'Exposed: The Hidden History of the Pelvic Exam,' 'Coming Home: How Midwives Changed Birth,' 'Bodies of Knowledge: Sexuality, Reproduction, and Women's Health in the Second Wave,' and 'Building a Better Race: Gender, Sexuality, and Eugenics from the Turn of the Century to the Baby Boom.' She has contributed to documentary films such as Netflix's 'Sex, Explained,' PBS's 'The Eugenics Crusade,' and Showtime's 'Pharma.' Her research has been funded by prestigious fellowships, including a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar fellowship, a British Academy Fellowship, and a Huntington Fellowship. In addition to her academic pursuits, Kline is a professional violinist, serving as principal second with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra. She is currently accepting graduate students interested in studying the history of women's health, psychology, and medicine.
