Paul J. E. Kershaw is an Associate Professor of European History at the University of Virginia, holding the title of Richard A. & Sara Page Mayo N.E.H. Distinguished Teaching Professor. He earned his PhD from King's College, University of London, in 1999, his MPhil in Medieval History from Jesus College, University of Cambridge, in 1991, and his BA (Hons) in Medieval and Modern History from King's College, University of London, in 1989. His research focuses on Medieval Europe and Carolingian Civilization. He is the author of the book 'Peaceful Kings: Peace, Power and the Early Medieval Political Imagination' and has published numerous articles on medieval historical topics.
