About

Mingjie Dai is an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at Rice University and a CPRIT Scholar in Cancer Research. His research focuses on developing novel molecular and bioengineering technologies for understanding and interacting with biological systems. His work includes building dynamic and functional nucleic acid-based circuits, sensitive detection, and accurate profiling of the cellular proteome. Dai's laboratory develops methods for fast and highly multiplexed molecular imaging of proteins and RNA in cellular and tissue contexts, utilizing super-resolution microscopy and single-molecule optical techniques. Additionally, his research involves high-sensitivity detection and profiling of protein modifications through microscopic and microfluidic techniques, as well as scalable detection of RNA viruses and transcripts in clinical samples using engineered DNA probes.
