Looney, David J.

About

David J. Looney is an Associate Professor In Residence in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego. His research activities focus on single-cell analysis of HIV latency, development of synthetic molecular sensors for targeting latently infected cells, and gene therapy approaches for HIV. He has been involved in numerous NIH-funded projects, including studies on HIV eradication strategies and viral vectors for gene therapy. Dr. Looney's work also encompasses the development of innovative biosensing technologies and the application of multivariate algorithms for modeling biological time series. His contributions extend to understanding viral infections, immune responses, and the development of wearable physiological monitoring devices. His research aims to advance the understanding of infectious diseases and improve therapeutic interventions.
