Joshua Jack Jones joined Northwestern Pritzker Law in 2022 as a Clinical Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Bartlit Center for Trial Advocacy. He has extensive experience in trial advocacy, having coached teams that won four national championships as a student and having coached winners of the 2015 National Trial Competition. Prior to his current role, he helped start the first full-service public defender office in Austin, Texas, serving as the Director of Trials and Training. He also spent eight years with Federal Defenders of San Diego, Inc., where he served as Senior Litigator, Trial Team Leader, and Trial Attorney. His background includes work in complex civil litigation at a small firm and experience as a trial attorney in various legal settings. Professor Jones received his B.A. in English, Philosophy, and Political Science from the University of Iowa in 2003 and his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2008. His areas of expertise include criminal law and procedure, evidence, and trial advocacy, and he teaches courses such as Advanced Trial Practice, Evidence, and Introduction to Trial Advocacy.
