About
Joaquín Rodríguez-López did his undergraduate studies at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he performed research in electrochemistry with Prof. Marcelo Videa. He then moved to the University of Texas at Austin to obtain a Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Allen J. Bard, completing his degree in 2010. Following his doctoral studies, he conducted postdoctoral research with Prof. Hector D. Abruña at Cornell University until 2012. His research interests combine electroanalytical chemistry and energy materials, focusing on developing chemically-sensitive methods for studying ionic and electronic reactivity at electrode/electrolyte interfaces, surface features, and individual particles, with applications in energy storage, electrocatalysis, sensors, and environmental electrochemistry. His group aims to characterize heterogeneous electrode materials, elucidate their functions, and generate new strategies to advance electrochemical energy technologies and sensing, employing innovative analysis methods at the nano- and micro-scale, often in situ and operando. He is recognized for his contributions to the field through numerous awards and honors, including the LAS Dean’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, the Zhaowu Tian Prize for Energy Electrochemistry, and being listed on The Analytical Scientist Top 40 Under 40 Power List.
