Dr. Jing Chen is the Janet Davison Rowley Distinguished Service Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago, where she joined in August 2020. She serves as the Director of Basic and Translational Science in the Section of Hematology/Oncology, Associate Vice Chair for Translational Science in the Department of Medicine, and the inaugural director of the Cancer Metabolomics Research Center. Additionally, she is the Associate Director for Translational Sciences for the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Chen is a renowned researcher in the area of cancer metabolism, with a focus on elucidating the signaling basis underlying cancer metabolism and the influence of diet and nutrition on cancer and response to therapy, aiming to improve clinical outcomes. Her research interests include cancer metabolism, diet and nutrition, drug discovery and development, leukemia, and metabolites as signaling molecules. Prior to her current role, she was a professor and the R. Randall Rollins Chair in Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine, leading the Cell and Molecular Biology Research Program at the Winship Cancer Institute. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Cancer Biology at HHMI & Harvard Medical School, earned her PhD in Biochemistry & Cell Biology from Emory University, and her BS in Molecular Biology from the University of Science and Technology of China.
