James A. McCann

About

James A. McCann is a Professor of Political Science and Latin American Studies at Purdue University, where he also serves as the Co-Director of the Methodology Center. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a B.A. from Illinois State University. His research focuses on American Politics, Comparative Politics, Group Politics, Elections, Latin American Politics, Public Opinion, and Elections, with particular interest in political psychology, campaigns and elections, political parties, immigrant incorporation, survey design, and methodology. McCann has been recognized with awards such as the Faculty Mentor Champion Award from Horizons Student Support Services and the Pi Sigma Alpha Professor of the Year. He has held positions as a Visiting Scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation and as a Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution. His scholarly work includes studies on political incorporation, civic attitudes of Latino immigrants, and comparative analyses of political engagement among Mexicans and Colombians. His contributions extend to examining immigrant responses to political campaigns and electoral behavior, with a focus on the political integration of immigrant groups and their participation in democratic processes.
