Helga Tawil-Souri is an Associate Professor of Media, Culture, and Communication and of Middle East and Islamic Studies at NYU Steinhardt. Her work focuses on technology, media, culture, territory, and politics in the Middle East, with a particular emphasis on Palestine. She has contributed to the field through her co-edited volumes, including Gaza as Metaphor and Producing Palestine, and serves on the editorial boards of Social Text, Public Culture, and the Journal of Environmental Media. Tawil-Souri has published extensively on topics such as checkpoints, borders, infrastructure, media and telecom, surveillance, and related issues, and teaches courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels covering borders and spatiality, Arab media, critical theory, Israel/Palestine, war and media, globalization, urban spaces, and cultural geography of commodities.
