Oren Bar-Gill is the John Edward Sexton Professor of Law and Economics at NYU School of Law. His scholarship focuses on the law and economics of contracts and contracting, with particular attention to consumer contracts, contract law, and economic analysis of law. Bar-Gill has contributed to understanding how legal frameworks influence consumer markets, including issues related to consumer protection, privacy, and the regulation of contractual practices online. He holds a diverse educational background with a JD and an LLM from Harvard Law School, a PhD in Economics from Tel-Aviv University, and an SJD in Law and Economics from Harvard Law School. His research has earned him several awards, including the American Law Institute’s Young Scholars Medal and the American Law and Economics Review’s Best Paper Prize. Bar-Gill has served as Reporter for the Restatement of the Law, Consumer Contracts, and as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Legal Analysis.
