We examine the effects of team identification on unhealthy eating behavior. Leveraging the functionalist perspective of emotions, we also examine how an introspective focus on particular affective states impacts this phenomenon. The results of two online studies (one cross-sectional survey, one experiment) indicate fans display emotional eating, implicit preferences toward high-calorie, indulgent foods, and higher body mass index (BMI) numbers when they identify highly with a sport team. Further…

By investigating the impact of dark personality traits on adolescent health, this study explores the interplay among economic disadvantage, spectator sports involvement, and cyber victimization. We analyzed data from 1844 students aged 13-17 in a school district in the USA, and our findings reveal positive associations between economic disadvantage and both Machiavellianism and psychopathy, influencing negative emotions-driven eating. Spectator sports engagement exhibits links with Machiavellian…
Statistical analysis of twin kHz QPO in LMXBs
arXiv (Cornell University) · 2013-01-23 · 1 citations
preprintOpen accessWith 26 twin kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillation (kHz QPO) sources in neutron star (NS) low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) published before 2012, we analyze the centroid frequency ({\nu}) distribution of twin kHz QPOs (lower frequency {\nu}1 and upper frequency {\nu}2) both for Atoll and Z sources. For the data without shift-and- add, we find that Atoll and Z sources show the different distributions of {\nu}1, {\nu}2 and {\nu}2/{\nu}1, but the same distribution of \Delta{\nu} (difference of twin k…
A Statistical Study on Neutron Star Masses

articleOpen accessWe studied the correlations between spin frequencies and kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations (kHz QPOs) in neutron star low mass X-ray binaries. The updated data of kHz QPOs and spin frequencies are statistically analyzed. We found that when two simultaneous kHz QPOs are present in the power spectrum, the minimum frequency of upper kHz QPO is at least 1.3 times larger than the spin frequency, i.e. \nu_{s}<\nu_{2min}/1.3. We also found that the average kHz QPO peak separation in 6 Atoll sources…
