About
Yael Goverover, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, FACRM, is a Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at NYU Steinhardt, where she also serves as the Director of Post-Professional Programs. She is a Fellow of both the American Occupational Therapy Association and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, and a member of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation’s Academy of Research. Her clinical and research expertise focuses on cognitive and functional impairments in individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and multiple sclerosis (MS). She is widely recognized for developing innovative performance-based assessments and evidence-based interventions aimed at improving everyday functioning, participation, and quality of life in these populations. Dr. Goverover has received numerous competitive grants from organizations such as the NIH, NIDILRR, and NMSS. She earned her bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy and a master’s degree in developmental psychology and educational counseling from Tel Aviv University, followed by a PhD in occupational therapy at NYU and postdoctoral training at the Kessler Foundation’s Neuropsychology and Neuroscience Laboratory. She continues to collaborate as a Visiting Scientist at Kessler Foundation, advancing research on functional cognition and rehabilitation science.
