About
Professor Xin Liu received her Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 2002. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California, Davis. Her research interests encompass machine learning algorithm development and its applications in human and animal healthcare, food systems, and communication networks. Her work in networking includes cellular networks, cognitive radio networks, wireless sensor networks, network information theory, network security, and IoT systems. Prior to her current position, she was a postdoctoral research associate in the Coordinated Science Laboratory at UIUC and spent time with Microsoft Research Asia from 2012 to 2014. Professor Liu is an IEEE Fellow and has received numerous awards, including the Computer Networks Journal Best Paper of the Year in 2003, the NSF CAREER award in 2005, the Outstanding Engineering Junior Faculty Award from UC Davis in 2005, and was named a Chancellor's Fellow in 2011. Her research also extends to applying machine learning in healthcare, food systems, and other areas, contributing significantly to the advancement of data-driven solutions in these fields.
