Wen Sun is an assistant professor of computer science at Cornell Tech and the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. His research focuses on machine learning and artificial intelligence, with his group at Cornell working on reinforcement learning and its applications to generative AI and robotics. Sun has received several awards, including a best student paper award from the Conference on Uncertainty in AI, an NSF CAREER award for enabling real-world reinforcement learning, a Sloan Research Fellowship in computer science, and the Ann S. Bowers Research Excellence Award from the College of Computing and Information Science at Cornell. Prior to his current position, he was a post-doctoral researcher at Microsoft Research in New York City from 2019 to 2020. He completed his Ph.D. at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in June 2019, and holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as bachelor’s degrees from Simon Fraser University and Zhejiang University.
