About

Soyoung Lee is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Yale University specializing in International Relations. Her research focuses on the ways domestic politics shape international rivalries, territorial disputes, and perceptions of national friends and foes. She is currently working on a book project that investigates which international issues are perceived as national interests worth fighting for and the reasons behind these perceptions. This project builds on her dissertation, which received multiple prestigious awards including the Best Dissertation in International Relations Theory from the American Political Science Association, the Walter Isard Award for the Best Dissertation in Peace Science, and the Stuart A. Bremer Award for the best graduate student paper from the Peace Science Society. Her scholarly work has been published or is forthcoming in leading journals such as the American Journal of Political Science, American Political Science Review, International Interactions, and International Organization. Soyoung Lee earned her Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University and was an America in the World Consortium Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University. Prior to her graduate studies, she completed her B.A. in political science at Yonsei University in South Korea, where she was awarded the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies Scholarship and the National Scholarship for Humanities and Social Sciences.
