Dr. Sanjeev Mukerjee is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University, where he has been a faculty member since September 1998. He heads the Center for Renewable Energy Technology at Northeastern University and its subset, the Laboratory for Electrochemical Advanced Power (LEAP). His research focuses on charge transfer dynamics at electrochemical and photo-electrochemical interfaces, encompassing materials development, in situ synchrotron spectroscopy, and electro-analytical methods. He is involved in computational initiatives including molecular modeling and simulation of multiple electron scattering in the context of in situ synchrotron XANES methods. Professor Mukerjee has contributed significantly to the understanding of electrocatalysis and intercalation using synchrotron techniques of x-ray scattering and absorption, developing innovative simulation and subtractive methods to study surface adsorbed species with unprecedented insight. His work on supported noble and non-noble metal nano-materials has shed light on the direct oxidation of complex fuels, oxygen reduction, and evolution processes.
