About

Robert Carey is a professor in the Department of Physics at Boston University. His research focuses on muon data and experiments, including work at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Fermilab, and the Paul Scherrer Institut. He is currently working on a new Muon to Electron Conversion experiment, which is one of the flagship experiments in the future Fermilab program. This experiment has received initial approval at the DOE and is in the process of obtaining full funding for detailed engineering design. Rob Carey has a background in high energy physics, having previously worked on collider physics at the Fermilab Tevatron (CDF). Over the past 22 years, his research has been centered on high energy experiments at low energy, specifically Muon g-2 and MuLan. He is also involved in mentoring students as the adviser to Photon, the local chapter of the Society of Physics Students. His contributions to the field have been recognized with awards such as the Boston University Neu Family Teaching Award in 2001. He holds a BA from Harvard College and a PhD from Harvard University.

    We present the first measurement of the negative pion total hadronic cross section on argon in a restricted phase space, which we performed at the Liquid Argon In A Testbeam (LArIAT) experiment.
