Incentives and Competition in the Airline Industry
The Review of Corporate Finance Studies · 2019-06-17 · 7 citations
article1st authorCorrespondingAbstract We examine how performance changes at airlines in response to a change in executive incentives. Airlines with executive bonuses contingent on on-time arrival do improve on-time performance. We find evidence of strategic gaming of the incentive as some carriers increase scheduled flight times, making it easier for flights to arrive on time. This effect is more pronounced for competitive routes. Carriers also do not decrease the frequency of flights or the number of passengers to make it…

Organizationally and financially constrained firms are less able to adjust to the restrictions. They reduce basic research and patenting, are less able to acquire other firms for intellectual property, and are more likely to…

Review of Financial Economics · 2016-02-12 · 1 citations
articleOpen access1st authorCorrespondingAbstract Using data for the period 1994–2013, we examine the return and risk‐taking behavior of hedge funds having at least one female portfolio manager and funds that have all female portfolio managers. Funds with all female managers perform no differently than all male‐managed funds and have similar risk profiles.
