About
Nuri C. Onat serves as an assistant professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Sehir University (SEHIR) and is the co-director and co-founder of the Sustainable Systems & Solutions Lab (S3-Lab). He also holds the position of senior sustainability fellow with the Global Institute of Sustainability and Innovation and works as an online instructor at the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University. Prior to joining SEHIR, he was a Walton Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Julie Ann Global Sustainability Institute as part of the Walton Sustainability Fellowship Program at ASU. Professor Onat has authored more than 30 publications covering topics such as sustainable transportation, green buildings, sustainability assessment methods, system dynamics, and life cycle sustainability assessment. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering from the University of Central Florida. His research interests include both theoretical and application-based approaches to sustainability problems, focusing on improving sustainability assessment methodologies by integrating social and economic indicators, non-linear dynamic modeling, economic input-output analysis, and optimization. His applied work addresses sustainable transportation, sustainable built environments, and renewable energy systems.
