M Lynn Crismon

About

M. Lynn Crismon, Pharm.D., FCCP, DABCP, BCPP, is Dean Emeritus and Behrens Centennial Professor Emeritus in the College of Pharmacy and a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. He has served his entire academic career at UT, including a tenure as Dean and James T. Doluisio Regents Chair of the UT College of Pharmacy from 2007 to 2020. His educational background includes a BS degree in Pharmacy from The University of Oklahoma and a Doctor of Pharmacy from a joint program of The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed residencies in pharmacy practice and psychiatric pharmacy, and a summer fellowship in biomedical ethics at Georgetown University. Dr. Crismon is board certified in psychiatric pharmacy and a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology. His research, scholarship, and practice focus on developing and evaluating strategies to improve pharmacotherapy and health outcomes for adults and children with severe mental disorders. He has contributed significantly to mental health medication management, serving as Co-Director of the Texas Medication Algorithm Project and as Director of the Children’s Medication Algorithm Project, and has been involved in developing prescribing parameters for youth in Texas.
