About
Juliana Salomao is an Associate Professor at the Carlson School of Management, where she teaches International Finance and the Global Economy. She holds a PhD in economics from Stanford University and an M.A. from PUC-Rio, Brazil. Her research focuses on the sovereign and corporate credit markets, with particular attention to the effects of the Credit Default Swap (CDS) market on sovereign credit markets. Her work demonstrates that the existence of a CDS market results in lower default probabilities, higher debt levels, and lower financing costs for countries. Additionally, her research explores the predictability of excess returns on long bonds and examines the relationship between firm financing and the business cycle.
