Jessica R. Greenberg

Jessica R. Greenberg is a professor of Anthropology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a 2025-2026 LAS Dean's Distinguished Professorial Scholar. She is a legal and political anthropologist whose work focuses on revolution, social change, democracy, justice, and human rights in the Balkans and Europe more broadly. Her research is motivated by a long-standing interest in the everyday life of social movements, as well as the hopes and disappointments that have animated democratic political activism after the Cold War. Her first book, 'After the Revolution: Youth, Democracy, and the Politics of Disappointment in Serbia,' chronicles the lives of student activists confronting the possibilities and frustrations of democracy in Serbia, emphasizing that disappointment is a fundamental feature of democratic practice rather than a failure. Her current research builds on her interests in democratic practice, activism, and power within the context of European integration, examining how legal battles over sovereignty and rights at the European Court for Human Rights shape definitions of European belonging and democratic practice.

  This dataset provides two 30-year climate normal data products for conditions during the last glacial maximum (LGM; ~18,000 years ago) and a modern time period (1975-2005) for the entire state of Alaska.
