H. Tai Lam joined the UCLA Anderson faculty in 2022 as an assistant professor of marketing. His research interests include industrial organization, with a focus on consumer search, platform design, and antitrust issues. His work seeks to understand how modern platforms influence consumer behavior, whether this influence benefits or harms consumers, and how it affects competition between platform owners and participants. Lam has a background in economics, having earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University in 2022 and a B.A. in Economics from the University of New South Wales in 2011. Prior to his academic career, he was a senior analyst at the Reserve Bank of Australia, where he modeled mortgage defaults in securitization vehicles.
