Gregory Dawson

About

Professor Gregory S. Dawson is a Clinical Professor in the School of Accountancy at Arizona State University. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, obtained in 2008, and a B.A. from James Madison University. His research interests include accounting and analytics, as well as information systems. Professor Dawson teaches courses such as Internal Control Audit & Fraud, Innovations with Audit Technology, and Seminar courses, with a consistent teaching record spanning multiple semesters and courses. He has received several awards for his teaching excellence, including the W. P. Carey Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award for the full-time MBA program during 2014-2015, the John W. Teets Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2011-2012, and the MIS Teacher of the Year award from the University of Georgia in 2007-2008.   ABSTRACT ChatGPT, a language-learning model chatbot, has garnered considerable attention for its ability to respond to users’ questions. Using data from 14 countries and 186 institutions, we compare ChatGPT and student performance for 28,085 questions from accounting assessments and textbook test banks.
