Siva Viswanathan is the area chair of decision, operations and information technologies and a professor of information systems at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. His research focuses on online firms and markets, examining the competitive and strategic implications of new information and communication technologies. His current work studies the growth of online information intermediaries and their potential to disrupt traditional business models in sectors such as auto retailing, financial services, and advertising. Viswanathan’s research has been published in leading journals including Management Science, Information Systems Research, Journal of Marketing, and Decision Support Systems. He is actively involved in international conferences and industry forums, contributing to the understanding of technological developments and their economic and strategic impacts.
