Elisa Baek is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at USC Dornsife. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Pennsylvania, earned in 2019, and completed her postdoctoral training as a Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles, from July 2019 to December 2022. Her research focuses on various facets of social connection, including what helps people feel connected to others, the characteristics of individuals who excel at social connection, and the factors that contribute to social disconnection. Her work investigates the associations between subjective and objective social (dis)connection and neural responses, as well as the neural and psychological drivers of information sharing and social influence. Dr. Baek is also interested in persuasion and message effects, particularly within the health domain, exploring what makes messages more persuasive and effective.
