Duane Alwin is the McCourtney Professor of Sociology and Demography at Pennsylvania State University. He serves as the Director of the Life Course Center and is a Graduate Faculty member in Social Data Analytics. His academic roles are based at the 302 Pond Laboratory in University Park, PA.   This paper investigates trends in adult child‐rearing values in the United States over a 30‐year period, from the mid‐1980s into the first decades of the 21st century.
