Dominic Thomas is the Madeleine L. Letessier Professor in the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies at UCLA. He holds the Gutenberg Chair in Ecology and Propaganda at the University of Strasbourg in France and is an Associate Member of the Centre of International History and Political Studies of Globalization at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. His fields of interest include European Politics, Immigration, Racism, and Globalization, with a particular focus on Francophone Africa. He is a recognized scholar and commentator on European affairs, contributing to CNN and CNN International. Thomas has authored, co-authored, edited, or co-edited numerous works on contemporary African and European culture and politics, covering topics such as postcolonial Europe, racial advocacy, colonial culture, and the legacy of colonialism in France. His publications include books like 'Black France,' 'Museums in Postcolonial Europe,' 'La France noire,' and 'The Colonial Legacy in France,' among others. He also edits the Global African Voices series at Indiana University Press, focusing on translations of African literature into English, and has translated works by prominent authors such as Aimé Césaire and Sony Labou Tansi. His academic background includes a PhD from Yale University. Thomas has received numerous honors and awards, including the Gutenberg Prize from Cercle Gutenberg, France, and election as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Academy of Europe. He has held various fellowships and visiting positions at institutions worldwide, including Cambridge University, EHESS in Paris, Humboldt University in Berlin, and Seoul National University.
