About

Daniel M. Harris, MD, FAAFP, is a board-certified Family Medicine physician who practices full-spectrum care including adult, pediatric, and prenatal care. He grew up in Northern Virginia and earned his B.S. in Biology from Virginia Tech. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his residency training in family medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, RI. Following his residency, he worked for several years at a federally qualified health center in Rhode Island while teaching residents and medical students at Brown University. He joined the University of Utah faculty in the Fall of 2023. His clinical interests include lifestyle and obesity medicine, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) of substance use disorder, and gender-affirming care. Dr. Harris is dedicated to providing comprehensive, compassionate, and patient-centered care, emphasizing thoroughness, clinical insight, and effective communication. His approach involves understanding individual patient needs, offering appropriate treatment options, and ensuring careful follow-up. Outside of medicine, his interests include biking, hiking, camping, playing the violin, singing, snowboarding, travel, and spending quality time with his wife and two daughters.

  • THE NINTH DATA RELEASE OF THE SLOAN DIGITAL SKY SURVEY: FIRST SPECTROSCOPIC DATA FROM THE SDSS-III BARYON OSCILLATION SPECTROSCOPIC SURVEY

The Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series · 2012-11-19 · 1480 citations

    articleOpen access

ABSTRACT The Sloan Digital Sky Survey III (SDSS-III) presents the first spectroscopic data from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS). This ninth data release (DR9) of the SDSS project includes 535,995 new galaxy spectra (median z ∼ 0.52), 102,100 new quasar spectra (median z ∼ 2.32), and 90,897 new stellar spectra, along with the data presented in previous data releases. These spectra were obtained with the new BOSS spectrograph and were taken between 2009 December and 2011 July. I…

  • THE TENTH DATA RELEASE OF THE SLOAN DIGITAL SKY SURVEY: FIRST SPECTROSCOPIC DATA FROM THE SDSS-III APACHE POINT OBSERVATORY GALACTIC EVOLUTION EXPERIMENT

The Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series · 2014-03-18 · 1009 citations

    articleOpen access

The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) has been in operation since 2000 April. This paper presents the Tenth Public Data Release (DR10) from its current incarnation, SDSS-III. This data release includes the first spectroscopic data from the Apache Point Observatory Galaxy Evolution Experiment (APOGEE), along with spectroscopic data from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) taken through 2012 July. The APOGEE instrument is a near-infrared R 22,500 300 fiber spectrograph covering 1.514-…

  • SPECTRAL EVOLUTION IN HIGH REDSHIFT QUASARS FROM THE FINAL BARYON OSCILLATION SPECTROSCOPIC SURVEY SAMPLE

    The Astrophysical Journal · 2016-12-19 · 32 citations

    articleOpen access

ABSTRACT We report on the diversity in quasar spectra from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey. After filtering the spectra to mitigate selection effects and Malmquist bias associated with a nearly flux-limited sample, we create high signal-to-noise ratio composite spectra from 58,656 quasars ( ), binned by luminosity, spectral index, and redshift. With these composite spectra, we confirm the traditional Baldwin effect (BE, i.e., the anti-correlation of C iv equivalent width (EW) and lum…

  • Flattening the Minas oil decline rate from 25 percent to two percent in just four years

    2018-03-09 · 1 citations

    article1st authorCorresponding

Discovered in 1944 and producing since 1952, Minas has produced 4.4 billion barrels of oil for a recovery of 51 percent. Current production is 99 MBOPD and 5 MMBW/D (water cut = 98 percent). All produced water is injected into the reservoir and into disposal wells for zero water discharge. Primary production was aquifer-supported until the early 1970s when Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI) initiated a peripheral waterflood for pressure maintenance purposes. Next came an investmentintensive pattern…

  • Hidden treasures in the unknown 3CR extragalactic radio sky: a multi-wavelength approach

    arXiv (Cornell University) · 2021

    Senior authorCorresponding

We present the analysis of multi-wavelength observations of seven extragalactic radio sources, listed as unidentified in the Third Cambridge Revised Catalog (3CR). X-ray observations, performed during Chandra Cycle 21, were compared to VLA, WISE and Pan-STARRS observations in the radio, infrared and optical bands, respectively. All sources in this sample lack a clear optical counterpart, and are thus missing their redshift and optical classification. In order to confirm the X-ray and infrared ra…
