Bhavik Bakshi holds the Wrigley Professorship at Arizona State University with appointments in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy, School of Sustainability, and School of Complex Adaptive Systems. His research focuses on developing systematic methods to ensure that engineering enables an effective transformation toward sustainability, resulting in novel solutions that respect nature’s limits, are socially just, and contribute to economic prosperity. His specific areas of research include product, process, supply chain, and landscape design for a sustainable circular economy. Prior to his current position, he was the Richard M. Morrow professor emeritus in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The Ohio State University. Bakshi has authored a textbook on sustainable engineering, developed user-friendly software, and conducted short courses worldwide. His work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Computing in Chemical Engineering Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Lawrence K. Cecil Award for environmental chemical engineering, and the NSF CAREER award. He serves on editorial boards of several multidisciplinary journals and has contributed to government committees such as UN Environment Program task forces. Bakshi received his education in chemical engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai and MIT, with a minor in Technology and Environmental Policy from Harvard University.
