The Emergence of Communication Lab is a research lab in the University of California, Los Angeles Department of Communication directed by Anne S. Warlaumont. Our research asks two main questions: (1) How do speech vocalizations and other communicative signals emerge in human infancy? and (2) How did human vocal signals evolve? Methodologically, we rely primarily on computational modeling and analysis of naturalistic recordings of human infant behavior.
