Allan Just is an environmental epidemiologist and Associate Professor of Epidemiology & Environment and Society at Brown University. His research focuses on children's environmental health, remote sensing and air pollution modeling with satellite data, climate and health epidemiology, and epigenomics. He investigates how improved estimates of air quality and neighborhood temperature reveal previously underestimated exposure disparities and health impacts. Utilizing NASA satellite products and spatiotemporal machine learning, he reconstructs environmental exposures to fine particulate matter (PM2.5), air temperature, and humidity in epidemiologic health studies involving cohorts and large registries across the US and Mexico. In 2022, he initiated an NIEHS Outstanding New Environmental Scientist (ONES) R01 project titled “Extreme temperature, humidity, air pollution and spontaneous preterm birth,” which is a five-year research endeavor.
