Ali Malkawi

About

Ali Malkawi is a Professor of Architectural Technology at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he also serves as the Director of the Doctor of Design Studies Program and the Founding Director of the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities. His research focuses on computational simulation, building performance evaluation, and design decision support. He has served as a consultant on various projects, including airport designs, super towers, industrial factories, and cities. Malkawi has previously taught at the Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Michigan, and University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Professor of Architecture and Chairman of the Graduate Group in Architecture. He is the lead author or co-author of more than 130 scientific papers and has co-edited three books. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored with the Jordan Star of Science by His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan in 2017 and received an honorary Master of Arts degree from Harvard University in 2013. He earned his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
