Alaa Elwany is a Professor in the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, obtained in 2009. His research focuses on modeling, analysis, and control of advanced manufacturing processes and systems, including additive manufacturing of metals, monitoring and control of additive manufacturing processes, printability assessment of new materials and alloys, uncertainty quantification, data analytics for advanced manufacturing, and reliability engineering and maintenance optimization. Elwany has received numerous awards for his contributions, including the University Professorship in Undergraduate Teaching Excellence at Texas A&M University in 2022, the Science and Technology Policy Fellowship from AAAS in 2022, and the NSF CAREER Award in 2019. His work has significantly advanced understanding and capabilities in additive manufacturing and manufacturing process control.
